Description of the challenges faced by the Tech Project

The artist will participate to the research and experimentation activities on interactive sonification of expressive human full-body movement, based on multimodal interfaces, as a follow up of the DANCE EU H2020 ICT Project.

Brief description of technology

The most recent developments of the EyesWeb system platform; the motion capture (Qualisys), multimodal interfaces and sensor systems, multichannel audio equipment , and computing resources available at the premise of our research centre (www.casapaganini.org).

What the project is looking to gain from the collaboration and what kind of artist would be suitable

the artist will work on the development of interactive sonification models of movement qualities, starting from the state of the art results available at Casa Paganini-InfoMus. Main objectives include: - development of interactive sonifications of a number of movement qualities, grounded on psychoacoustics and psychophysics; - participation to scientific experiments to validate sonification models; - participation to the development of applications in the fields of inclusion, technology support to blind persons, and artistic demonstrations in public events .

Resources available to the artist

internet and computing facilities; technical equipment and collaboration with the research personnel at Casa Paganini-InfoMus Research Centre. Facilities include a Qualisys motion capture system, EyesWeb, various sensor systems and multimodal interfaces, audio equipment, and a 230-seat auditorium with stage for experiments.
