Description of the challenges faced by the Tech Project

Our project develops surfaces for the interior of the next generation of cars. Through the massive increase and shift of the user’s expectations to vehicles, we have to reinvent the interior of a car. In addition, the main focus is to integrate sustainable natural materials.

Brief description of technology

For the best user experience, we do research and development for the perfect symbiosis of materials, structures, haptics, sensors, displays, intelligence and comfort. Surfaces can have a specific function for a lot of use cases. Depending on these functions they have to be highly optimized or adaptable for different scenarios. The behavior and functionality of surfaces is mainly attributed to very complex microscopic effects. The envisioned task would be to illustrate these complex coherences, either graphically or sculpturally, and visualize the principal human-surface interaction, respectively, e.g. in the context of human-surface interaction with the interior of an autonomously driving car.

What the project is looking to gain from the collaboration and what kind of artist would be suitable

We would like to gain amazing new ideas out of the eyes of an artist. We do not have any restriction which kind of artist it should be. We are looking for an open-minded personality who is curious to combine technological, ecological and societal aspects, which are relevant for the future.

Resources available to the artist

Location ist still open. It can be in Wolfsburg, but also in Berlin. Our idea is to present the artist's activities outside the company, in interaction with the public. For sure there will be technical equipment and working space.
