Description of the challenges faced by the Tech Project

Dynaback has designed and fabricated wearable technology garments. Functional, flexible, discreet and comfortable textile that monitors movement. We can visualise the data that the sensors on the clothing collect and that data and algorithm can be used to create artwork in various forms. The Dynaback team's skills and work facilities extend to digital fabrication such as 3d printing and lasercutting as these methods are a part of Dynaback's manufacturing process.

Brief description of technology

Dynaback is a company that offers smart connected clothing that monitor your movement. With an array of sensors integrated into garments that are designed to keep the sensors close to the wearers body for accurate monitoring of movement. We are able to translate the data to 3d visual artwork, sound or light. The 3d visuals can for example be projected on a wall or sculpture installation as a part of the performance as well as the light and sound.

What the project is looking to gain from the collaboration and what kind of artist would be suitable

Dynaback is looking to collaborate with artists such as choreographers, dancers or visual artist. Together we could work towards creating artwork/show using visualisation of movements in an artistic way. The artist would have the chance to put on a creative spectacle featuring breath-taking innovative technology and therefore gain more visibility in the scene and new experience as professionals.

Resources available to the artist

Dynaback had it’s base office in the SmartFabLab in Sofia, Bulgaria. A Fab lab is a small-scale workshop offering digital fabrication. A fab lab is typically equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools, like 3d printer, lasercutter etc. with the aim to make "almost anything". We have a lasercutter for cutting textile patterns, sewing machines and a fashion designer on the Dynaback team. There is working Wifi connection, projectors and soundsystem. Fairly big space for dance performance. Dynaback also has a programmer, visual artist and engineer in their team.
